Weekly Schedule 2/21/2022 — Observing Presidents’ Day

Week 102 - My son and I love to explore the various playgrounds scattered throughout San Francisco, and I'm starting to reconnect with my love of coffee shops. This weekend we went to Bloomstock in Bayview (p.s. — they have waffles), drank coffee and steamed milk at their delightful parklet, then walked over to the recently renovated K.C. Jones playground. On our walk back, I noticed we walked right by the 3rd Street Youth Center and Clinic — total serendipity! Their facilities look amazing, and I was so glad to get a feel for the area in which they operate. It makes our monthly donations feel a little more specific. We raised $268 from group classes attended last week. If feels good to honor your body as well as paying homage to an organization like this one.

Some dance inspiration from 2019 via my partner, via one of the email newsletters he reads:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLZuRCtNBxg

"And So Say All Of US" is a 52 choreographer homage to Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) Executive Producer Emeritus, Joseph V. Melillo. You may have already seen it, but it still feels current even though it's pre-pandemic. It's beautiful to see a variety of bodies embodying their own movement creation, and how they use creative problem-solving to connect one section to another. (Image via Wikipedia).

Let's use the mindset of picking up where we left on, then expounding on the idea, as we move through life this holiday week.

Here's what's on the schedule this week:

NO CLASS - PRESIDENTS' DAY 7:00am PST - Monday, 2/21/2022

  • IN-PERSON GYROTONIC® Pulley Tower Class

NOW A DROP-IN CLASS! A 50-minute group equipment class series exploring Gyrotonic exercise on the Pulley Tower. Space for four (4) individuals. Curious about this movement system? This is a great class to learn more.

9:30am PST - Tuesday, 2/22/2022:

  • ONLINE Pilates Mat (Mixed Level)

In February's class format we are finally getting to the wall. We're putting our feet on the wall, so wear clean socks to keep your wall clean. Keep the long foam roller (36" long), light hand weights, and a resistance band available. Our focus is varying the planes of motion for the body and mind for better balance. Video available if you can't attend live.

9:30am PST - Thursday, 2/24/2022:

  • ONLINE Balance and Flow GYROKINESIS®

Our February focus is flowing through the seated arm-work, then getting more into legs and pelvis on the floor. Maybe even getting to lying down on our fronts... Remember, there are always options available if you're just not feeling the floor. Have your stool/ chair, two bath towels (blankets, etc.), and some wall space free.

Focusing on the ability of the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® to increase circulation, mobilize and strengthen joints, and increase proprioceptive awareness, this Zoom class prepares the body for more confidence in standing balance work. Video available if you can't attend live.

Looking forward to seeing you online and in-person this week! Until then, breathe deeply, stay socially distant, healthy and sane.

Warmly,

Harriet
