Weekly Schedule 8/8/2022 — The Lull Before Fall

THIS WEEK IS DONATION WEEK! Sign up for class(es) to have your class fee donated to our 2022 organization.

With the intention of gathering strength for the new generation of the Black community, our donation class recipient organization for 2022 is Third Street Youth Center and Clinic. Please read more about this clinic and the variety of programs they offer San Francisco youth between 12-24 years old: https://3rdstyouth.org

We donate 100% of class fees from classes attended the second week of every month to the annual organization. We also encourage you to make your own donation directly if you are able.

Please be prepared to provide updated proof of vaccination when visiting the studio. Here's a useful link to have on hand when you've forgotten your paper vaccination card, or don't have an updated copy with you:

Week 126 - Wrapping up big energy this week with the culmination of DTC/SF's Intermediate Summer Intensive and music festival Outside Lands in Golden Gate Park. Our young dancers really focused on learning different types of dance conditioning with an open mind and positive attitude -- great job, dancers! Sophia will be teaching a Gyrotonic Pulley Tower class during Back-To-School Prep August 22 through September 2 for dancers interested in learning more about Gyrotonic exercise. We will post class sign-up next week.

Growing up in Maryland very close to Washington, D.C., August was always a hot, muggy time when everything and everyone slowed down. As students, we really tried to slow August down to postpone the start of school, squeezing the last little bits of unstructured time. Ultimately our enthusiasm to see friends and resume activities started to build closer to the end of the month, with a frisson of excited anticipation culminating Labor Day Weekend.

As we settle in to this August lull before back-to-school excitement possibly tinged with a little pandemic-related anxiety, let's remember to go slow, and enjoy our friends, family, and free time before fall.
