Weekly Schedule 8/1/2022 — Still Doing It

With the intention of gathering strength for the new generation of the Black community, our donation class recipient organization for 2022 is 3rd Street Youth Center and Clinic. Please read more about this clinic and the variety of programs they offer San Francisco youth between 12-24 years old: https://3rdstyouth.org

We donate 100% of class fees from classes attended the second full week of every month to the annual organization. That's next week, June 13, 2022. We also encourage you to make your own donation directly if you are able.


Week 125 - Remember the days when we thought we would be staying home and COVID-19 would be gone in three-ish weeks? How we had to MacGyver masks out of bandanas, or purchase home-sewn masks from Etsy due to a shortage of PPE? Then how we waited for vaccines with the expectation that the global population would vaccinate and life would return to normal? How last summer COVID-19 seemed nearly gone?

Yet here we are. Week 125 by my count. Still having to modify our behaviors to keep our friends, family, and colleagues healthy. I am sad when I think about those of you whose faces I've never seen from the eyes down. As difficult as it is some days, I am grateful our community has continued to mask and vaccinate throughout this entire pandemic experience.

I look forward to the time we can unmask ourselves, workout in large groups indoors, and focus on the Gyrokinesis Breathing sequences as a glorious group meditation. Until then, we are staying masked to limit exposure to others, staying up-to-date on boosters, and staying home when we are sick.

  • 9:30am PST - ONLINE Mixed Level Pilates Mat (Harriet)

We are continuing with building pelvic stability, strengthening the legs, and increasing cardiovascular activity using light hand weights (1-5 lbs), and heavier hand weights (5-10lbs). Video available if you can't attend live.

A 50-minute group equipment class exploring Gyrotonic exercise on the Pulley Tower. Space for four (4) individuals. 

The 
GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® is a form of deep abdominal strengthening, focusing on the body’s natural movement in three dimensions, breathing, as well as continuous motion that is smooth and uninterrupted. This calmly-paced class focuses on upper body posture and strengthening the legs while increasing mobility.

  • 10:30am PST - IN-PERSON Prenatal and Postnatal GYROTONIC® Pulley Tower Class (Harriet)

A 50-minute group equipment class open to new parents and birthing people using Gyrotonic exercise on the Pulley Tower as well as additional props to help support the body. Space for four (4) individuals.

Focusing on the ability of the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® to increase circulation, mobilize and strengthen joints, and increase proprioceptive awareness, this in-person class focuses on connecting participants to their bodies as the demands upon it evolve and change.

  • 9:30am PST - ONLINE Balance and Flow GYROKINESIS® (Harriet)

We continue with the Cat Back Series in August-- either standing or kneeling. Please
 be prepared to lay down (a bed will do), and have a 
9-inch squishy ball available for work on integrating the pelvic floor and breath into our movement. Video available if you can't attend live.

Focusing on the ability of the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® to increase circulation, mobilize and strengthen joints, and increase proprioceptive awareness, this Zoom class prepares the body for more confidence in standing balance work.
