Weekly Schedule 1/24/2022 — Doing What You Know

A little corner of DTC/SF Studio B with our new signage on the corner of Geary and 21st Ave.

Week 98 - Time has passed since the holiday bustle and stress, and we've taken some time to look inward and focus our intention for the year ahead. As we wind down January, let's take a moment to look to February to see where we can make small changes to achieve any larger goals.

For our upper level DTC/SF dancers, audition season is here. Covid restrictions have really complicated an already stressful time by throwing uncertainty into the mix. Carving out time for inner focus helps us stay flexible when life gets unpredictable.

If your inner dialogue is anything like mine, you're hearing, "but I don't have time to stop -- there's so much to do!"

That inner voice is wrong.

You know this. I've been using an "authenticity check" of sorts by asking myself, "would I say this to a good friend, or is this something I tell myself?" For very few of us, we wouldn't dream of telling our dear friend they shouldn't rest. Doesn't it even look ridiculous lying there on the screen?

You know the benefits. Rest helps your body restore and improve it's functions. You're better able to handle whatever comes your way if you are resting. Keep (or start) creating times for rest and rejuvenation EVERYDAY, whether it's a five-minute breathing meditation, or breathing your way through Gyrotonic group class. Creating this type of boundary will help you achieve these larger, loftier goals. Creating the boundary helps you do what you already know you need to do.

Here's what's on the schedule this week:

7:00am PST - Monday, 1/24/2022

  • IN-PERSON GYROTONIC® Pulley Tower Class

Class 2 of 4 of this new class series. A 50-minute group equipment class series utilizing the Gyrotonic® Pulley Tower for a cohort of four (4) individuals. Class meets once a week for four weeks. Registration for all four classes is required.

Registration is closed for this series. Please contact me if you're interested in joining this class, or starting another class series at a later time. Lunchtime classes will come first, then we'll add in evening classes as soon as possible.

9:30am PST - Tuesday, 1/25/2022:

  • ONLINE Pilates Mat (Mixed Level)

We are starting off the year using the long foam roller (36" long), light hand weights, wall space and a resistance band. Our focus is rotational movement of the joints to maximize sustainable range of motion. And abdominal work. Don't forget the abdominal work. Video available if you can't attend live.

9:30am PST - Thursday, 1/27/2022:

  • ONLINE Balance and Flow GYROKINESIS®

Starting 2022 using your stool/ chair, mat, two (2) full-sized bath towels, and a resistance band (5' or longer). We are focusing on more of the floor work to maintain and improve balance and agility.

Focusing on the ability of the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® to increase circulation, mobilize and strengthen joints, and increase proprioceptive awareness, this Zoom class prepares the body for more confidence in standing balance work. Video available if you can't attend live.

Warmly,

Harriet
