Weekly Schedule 7/4/2022 — Happy Independence Day! ‍

Week 121 - We are celebrating the continued potential of our country this weekend. Our MFE community member, Marc, emailed out an empowering list of ways to help move us — locally and nationally — in a more moderate and measured direction. He gave me permission to share the actionable items from his email with you. In Marc's words:

DO. SOMETHING.

There is so much to do and any time, money, and effort you can spare is valuable.

If you want to write postcards to voters in battleground states please let me know and I will set you up.

If you want to volunteer for a campaign – (like Rep. Josh Harder’s in Modesto), or organize your friends and network to raise money or have a post-card writing party – let me know and I will help connect you and set you up.

If you want to give money - I encourage you to support the Flip the Vote [FTV] I’ve researched FTV and been on webinars with their leaders and I am very impressed with their strategy and operation. FTV is totally focused on identifying and winning competitive races where your marginal dollar can make the biggest difference, and where the investment in ’22 will also strengthen Democratic chances in ’24.

This cycle FTV is routing 100% of donations to grass-roots organizations leading on-the-ground voter registration, education and get-out-the-vote efforts in communities of color in 7 states that Biden narrowly won, where governorships are critical to preserving the right to an abortion, where Senate seats are most important to defend and flip.

Your contribution to FTV will go to these 501c4s, led by people of color who proved they can turn-out-low-frequency voters 2020:

Arizona: Living United for Change in Arizona (LUCHA)
Georgia: Asian American Advocacy Fund
Michigan: Detroit Action
Minnesota: TakeAction MN
North Carolina: Advance Carolina
Pennsylvania: Make the Road PA
Wisconsin: Black Leaders Organizing for Communities (BLOC)

(When you donate you can split your contribution between these groups or direct your money to a specific organization or state that you may care most about).

Extra Benefit: FTV does NOT share your info with other campaigns or bombard you with solicitations.

How much should you give? That’s a personal decision and the only right answer is: something! But think about what you spend money on to feel good about life. A nice dinner? Tickets to a game or a show? A present for a friend? Perhaps that’s a good way of thinking about what it’s worth to you - and what you could give from your discretionary budget - to feel good the day after the election in November.

Please let me know how I can help you get involved in this fall’s election in the way that’s right for you and tell me if there are candidates, and organizations you’re supporting that I can learn more about and support as well.

So please let me know if you'd like to connect with Marc for more information about postcard writing, campaign volunteering, or donating money to FTV.

I know there are already some of you with pen in-hand hovering over a stack of postcards. Or maybe you also have some other organizing you’ve started. Replying to this email is the best way to connect. I’ll facilitate introductions and connections as needed. The work began yesterday, and begins anew today.
